Former adjunct faculty member and MFA Alumna, Karisma Jay, has been awarded the 2021 Dance Teacher Award! As the owner of the Brooklyn-based AbunDance Academy of the Arts, Karisma Jay works to help Black and brown dancers discover their individual potential through art, and reach their professional goals within the dance industry.
Paul Anthony Dennis, an associate professor of dance at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, has been named the new chair of the Dance Department at Hunter College by President Raab September 1st, 2021.

The Hunter College Dance Department Composition 2 Class premieres! Please join us online at hunterdances.com to see the results of the hard work from our Composition 2 Student Choreographers along with other student collaborators, as they bring their visions to the screen for Fall 2020's remote semester.
Please mark your calendars and join us as we hear from our alumni who are performing, have companies, are in administration, marketing, dance educators, practicing physical therapy as well as many other wonderful careers and about life after graduating from Hunter Dance.
Typically, the Dance Department would hold it's placement in person but due to COVID-19, the audition portion of placement will be conducted via video submission. Once our faculty have placed you, we will meet on the below date(s) to discuss your placement, meet our faculty and fellow peers. The Dance Department will hold TWO placement auditions, our first will be December 18th, 2020. Time and further details are forthcoming.

We are more than excited to welcome you back to our beautiful studios for our placement class this spring! (formerly referred to as a "Placement Meeting" due to the virtual nature of the placement process over the past year) Though the dates for our placement are forthcoming, we anticipate to hold one or two meetings in either December and/or January. Congratulations to Pedro, who was featured in Dance Teacher Magazine Online for his work with The Windows Project! His hard work facilitated the artistic, cultural, and educational exchange between the Arnhold Graduate Dance Education Program and Ballet Contemporaneo de Camaguey!
