II) Program Description
Faculty-led, this program offers current students the opportunity to immerse themselves in critical inquiry about English language teaching in settings outside the US. Students will delve into descriptions of the opportunities and challenges in language teaching worldwide by directly experiencing teaching English as a foreign language and serving as a volunteer teacher in Costa Rican English language teaching programs. Students will also have the opportunity to visit K-12 Costa Rican public schools and adult teaching contexts.
Students will simultaneously engage in Spanish language learning at their proficiency level at the ILISA Language School. Spanish classes will be provided to all participants, and are small group and at your level of proficiency from beginner-native speaker. Students can opt into 3 credits in Spanish language. The for-credit option would include classes continued on via remote instruction.

PREREQUISITES
The program is open to any student with a completed BA degree.
TUITION/CREDITS
Students will receive 3 graduate credits for EDESL 703 course in line with college guidelines. Students will need to register via CUNY First and pay for the EDESL 703 course through the Hunter College Bursar's office.III) Costs of Attendance

Program fee includes: homestay 18 days, airport pick up and drop off, 2 shuttles per way, entrance fee to museums and cultural activities (dance, movies, museums, etc), service learning activities at schools. Assistance with volunteering activities and use of ILISA facilities for group sessions and guest lectures; 3 days/2 nights at Tamarindo Pacific coast including transportation, guide, stay at double/triple rooms, 3 breakfasts and trip to Tortuga Island; One day tour Orosi Valley; and Spanish Classes package.
Not included in Program Fee: airfare to and from destination ($800 estimated) and local transportation, additional meals and books ($200 estimated)
Homestay can be extended for $30 per night.

Application deposit of $350 to hold your spot due: March 15, 2023
Remaining balance of $2150 will be due April 15, 2023
Payments must be made with certified check or money order to Hunter College, Office of Education Abroad. NO CASH, PERSONAL CHECKS OR CREDIT CARDS. It is strongly encouraged that you drop off your payment in person during our office hours. See here for office hours and contact information.
Students are responsible for meeting the payment deadline regardless of funding source, i.e. scholarships, loans, or any other type of financial aid. Late fees will be applied to payments made after stated deadlines.
