Artist Encounter: Making Theater During Wartime
Sep 18 | 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Meet American playwright and director Richard Nelson and six young actresses from Ukraine and hear about their experiences rehearsing a play in Kyiv.
Last winter, Nelson directed a play for Theater on Podil, one of the most prestigious theaters in Ukraine, about a production of Macbeth outside Kyiv in 1920. “I wanted to write a play about six young women putting on a play in the middle of a war,” Nelson says, “to be performed by six young women putting on my play in the middle of a war.”
