Cafecito con... Victor Hernandez Cruz
Poetry has always been a proud outlet for Nuyoricans, and before the famed cafe, there were poets like Victor Hernandez Cruz. Named one of the greatest American poets by Life Magazine in 1981, his work concerns “the history of immigration in a world-wide sense; the idea of civilization coming into other civilizations.” Join Victor and fellow poet Urayoan Noel, at the Silberman School of Social Work for a reading from his new book, Guayacan, named after an important tree for our Taino ancestors across las Americas.
