Creating Justice in a Multiracial Democracy: An Update on the 1968 Kerner Commission Report
Hunter College President Nancy Cantor cordially invites you to a vital discussion on the future of American equity and social harmony.
Nearly 60 years ago, the Kerner Commission warned of a nation dividing into "two societies, separate and unequal." Today, we revisit that urgent call to action with the launch of Creating Justice in a Multiracial Democracy: New Will for Evidence-Based Policies That Work.
Join us for an evening of individual presentations and an in-depth conversation featuring:

LaTosha Brown: Author, Activist, and Co-founder of Black Voters Matter, a Southern civic engagement organization that played an instrumental role in the 2017 Alabama U.S. Senate race. A jazz singer with over 20 years of experience working in the nonprofit and philanthropy sectors on a wide variety of issues related to political empowerment, social justice, economic development, leadership, wealth creation, and civil rights, she is also principal owner of TruthSpeaks Consulting, a philanthropy advisory consulting firm.

Alan Curtis: President of the Eisenhower Foundation. Curtis was the Crimes of Violence Task Force Co-Director on President Lyndon Johnson's National Violence Commission and Executive Director of President Jimmy Carter's interagency Urban and Regional Policy Group. He is an author or editor of many books.

Moderated by Joe Lowndes: Director, Roosevelt House Public Policy Program, and Professor of Political Science at Hunter College. A scholar of American politics, with a focus on right-wing politics, populism, and race, he is the author of From the New Deal to the New Right: Race and the Southern Origins of Modern Conservatism.
