Film Screening — Summoned: Frances Perkins and the General Welfare
Please join us at Roosevelt House for a special screening of the new Mick Caouette documentary, Summoned: Frances Perkins and the General Welfare. Featuring compelling interviews with David Brooks, Nancy Pelosi, Amy Klobuchar, Lawrence O’Donnell, and Alice Kessler-Harris, the film tells the story of FDR’s Secretary of Labor, the history of women in politics, the creation of Social Security, and the transformation of the role of government during the New Deal.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with Mick Caouette; Tomlin Coggeshall, Frances Perkins’ grandson and founder of the Frances Perkins Center; and Eleanor Roosevelt biographer Blanche Wiesen Cook.
