Join us for a dynamic panel on Public Interest Technology—where innovation meets equity. Hear from technologists, policymakers, and nonprofit leaders who factor ethics and impact into their professional decisions. One speaker helps computer science students launch tech careers by pairing them with mission-driven organizations. Discover how PIT is reshaping digital services, AI ethics, and opportunities for the next generation of changemakers.
Speakers:
- Margaret Smiley of Prometheus helps computer science students launch tech careers by pairing them with mission-driven organizations.
- Jazzy Smith runs programs for BetaNYC, a civic technology and open data nonprofit. BetaNYC empowers New Yorkers to use technology, data, and design to improve government services, strengthen community decision-making, and build a more just and equitable city.
- Rebecca Heywood is the Head of Governments Team at the U.S. Digital Response, a nonprofit that connects pro bono technologists with governments and organizations, especially around UI/UX, AI, and language access using AI. She also runs the #publicsectorjobboard and is a board member of Technologists for Public Good.
- Jiahao Chen is Director of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at New York City's Office of Technology and Innovation
