Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah's debut short-story collection Friday Black was a New York Times best seller, an L.A. Times best seller and a Boston Globe best seller. It won the PEN/Jean Stein Book Award and was a finalist a National Book Critics Circle Award, the Dylan Thomas Prize and the John Gardner Award, among others. Adjei-Brenyah was named a "5 Under 35" honoree by the National Book Foundation.
