Admission Requirements:
You must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for admission. Meeting these minimum requirements does not guarantee an interview or acceptance to the program.

A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution comparable in standard and content to a bachelor’s degree from Hunter College- College & University Transcripts

At least five (5) years of professional (post-collegiate) experience

Applicants whose native language is not English and who have taken all or part of their undergraduate education in a country where English is not the native language are required to submit scores on the TOEFL/IELTS. The following minimum scores must be obtained:
- TOEFL iBT: 80/ Paper Based Test: 550/ Computer Administered Test: 213
- IELTS: 6.5 Overall Band Score
Application Requirements:
- A statement of purpose of approximately 500-750 words describing your long-term objectives in dance. This is not a request for a personal narrative. We are looking for clear research goals and professional intentions. The Hunter College Dance Department roots itself in the belief that dance is a powerful vehicle for change. Please address you expect to build a research portfolio of artistic, pedagogical and scholarly work that serves a just and equitable future.
- Two letters of recommendation from appropriate academic or professional references.
Dance Program Supplemental Application Materials and Activities:

Creative Work Samples and/or Published Writing:
- Link to 1-3 clips of your creative work - between 5 and 15 minutes in total. No promo reels please
- Links or copies of 1-3 pieces of critical writing on performance
- Please include the links at the end of your Statement of Purpose before uploading it into the online application system.
- Current Personal/ Professional Curriculum Vitae
- Audition/Interview: Select candidates will be invited for an interview with the committee in early April. If you are select for an interview, you will be asked to prepare a 20 - minute presentation of your current and planned creative and/or scholarly research. More details will be provided.
