Financial Aid

Many graduate students at Hunter finance their education through federal, state, and Hunter aid programs. Degree students who register for six (6) or more credits and meet all federal aid eligibility requirements may qualify for a low-interest Federal Direct Loan. Graduate students may also qualify for Federal Perkins Loan, or Federal College Work Study.

Please Note: Certificate and Advance Certificate programs are NOT ELGIBILE for Federal Financial Aid

The Office of Financial Aid at Hunter College can provide you with information and a CUNY FAFSA/FAF application for the following programs:

  • Federal Stafford Loan
  • Federal Supplemental Loan to Students (SLS)
  • Federal Perkins Loan
  • Federal College Work Study (FCWS)

You can also contact the academic department to which you are applying for information on:

  • Graduate assistantships
  • Traineeships in Nursing (US Departrment of Health & Human Services)
  • Traineeships in Communication Sciences and Rehabilitation Counseling (US Department of Education)
  • Fellowships in Environmental Health
