Some Hunter systems have rules about how passwords need to be constructed and how often they need to be changed. This page explains the different rules and how the ICIT Help Desks can assist you if you have questions.

Password Rules
- Do not share your password with anyone.
- Do not email your password to anyone asking for it, even if they claim to be from a Help Desk or from the college administration.
- A good, strong password contains both uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols; but does not contain your own name, your username or your date of birth.
- Passwords do not need to be changed periodically (though we recommend changing them every semester).
- Passwords must be at least eight characters long.
- Passwords must contain at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number and one symbol.
- Passwords cannot contain your NetID.
- Passwords must be changed every 180 days.
- You cannot use any of the last twelve (12) passwords.
- Passwords must be at least thirteen (13) characters long.
- Passwords must not match or contain the first name, last name, or username (user ID).
- Passwords must contain:
- At least 3 alphanumeric characters, 2 of which must be letters.
- At least 1 lowercase letter.
- At least 1 uppercase letter.
- At least 1 numeric character.
- At least 1 special character.
