For about 50 years, Hunter Political Science and IR students have participated in the Annual Student Conference on U.S. Affairs (SCUSA) held at the United States Military Academy, West Point. This year's representative from Hunter College was Maisie Haft.
The oldest and largest undergraduate conference of its kind, SCUSA was first held in 1949 to foster civil-military engagement among the next generation of leaders and to help bridge the gap in understanding critical national and international security challenges. SCUSA participants typically include about 60 West Point Cadet delegates and up to 200 American and international students from over 100 universities and service academies. Hunter alumni of SCUSA have gone on to top graduate schools and professional work in the U.S. foreign service and other departments of the U.S. government, think tanks and foreign diplomatic services.
