Hunter Alumni Enjoy Receptions in Sunshine State

Alumni demonstrate Hunter pride in Tampa.

The Sunshine State got a taste of Hunter College.

Hunter College’s Office of Alumni Relations brought the Hunter spirit to Florida in February with three exciting regional receptions in Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, and Palm Beach. Florida-based alumni had the opportunity to reconnect with classmates, reminisce about their time on campus, and learn about what’s new at Hunter.

Those in Palm Beach also got an opportunity to hear a special luncheon talk by Hunter President Nancy Cantor, and by Professor Brian Zeglis, who shared his lab’s groundbreaking discoveries in nuclear medicine for cancer treatment.

The trip was the first Florida visit for Cantor, Hunter’s 14th president, now in her seventh month at the college. Cantor shared her goals and vision for Hunter as an anchor institution that serves the city and the public through high-impact research, cultural programming, and community building.

The camaraderie and momentum from our recent alumni visits have sparked exciting developments. Inspired by the get-together, alumni are forming a chapter in Tampa. In Fort Lauderdale, volunteers have eagerly stepped up to serve as chapter captains.

“We were incredibly proud and deeply moved to see alumni step up and start organizing in the spirit of Mihi Cura Futuri,” said Executive Director of Alumni Relations Kristin Matthews. “Their sense of community, informed by their cherished experiences at Hunter and the pride of being graduates, was truly heartwarming and inspiring.”
