Hunter-Bellevue nursing student Kayla Guevarro ’26 received the prestigious Caring Hands Scholarship at the Nursing Students’ Association of New York State 2025 Annual Convention last month.
Guevarro, a third-year student from Queens who is studying for her bachelor of science in nursing, was one of several Hunter students at the convention at the Hilton Long Island in Huntington. The association awards three of the $500 needs-based scholarships each year.
“Congratulations, Kayla!” said Joan Hansen Grabe Dean of Nursing Ann Marie Mauro. “Her achievement is a testament to the dedication and excellence of our nursing students.”
Bethany Kim ’25, the association’s policy and education director, also had a resolution on mental-health support for nursing students approved; delegates will vote on the measure at the National Student Nurses’ Association 73rd Annual Convention in April.
