Hunter College Empowers Graduates With Free Career Resources

Grads, need a job? Get a job through Hunter!

Hunter College will provide its graduates with free access to services offered through its Career Center.

The services to be provided include:

  • One-on-one meeting with a career adviser as many as three times a year
  • Career readiness workshops
  • Employer information sessions
  • Industry panels and networking events
  • Career fairs

Alumni can schedule a one-on-one meeting with a career advisor online at their convenience for personalized support. Alumni are encouraged to stay connected and register for upcoming events designed to support their professional journey and expand their network.

“Whether you just graduated or you’re exploring your next career move, we’re here to support alumni every step of the way. “There’s no expiration date on our support. Whether you graduated in 1984 or 2024, you still have access to career services, ” said Executive Director of Alumni Relations Kristin Mathews. “We want alumni to know that we have their back when it comes to your career.”

The initiative formalizes the efforts of the Career Center and the HunterWorks! program and builds upon outreach events that Alumni Relations has conducted in recent months, such as a student–alumni mixer during Career Week this fall.

Career Week — a dynamic, week-long series of events connecting students with job opportunities — drew a crowd of 3,100 students. The week-long format represented a significant expansion of earlier day-long career fairs.

“Many attendees found the event helpful, well-organized, and enjoyable,” said Director of Career Services Kristina Simonsen.

The employment push shows Hunter’s reach as an anchor institution advancing economic mobility for students and alumni alike.

The HunterWorks! program connects Hunter’s talented students with the city’s top employers. Through internships, mentorships, and career support, it builds pathways to full-time opportunities and a diverse workforce. It also supports academic departments with resources to achieve strong student employment outcomes.

“We are committed to assisting our students with the support of our career services, even after graduation,” said HunterWorks! Director and Dean of Academic Innovation and Outcomes Robert Domanski. “We have created a pipeline for Hunter graduates to our city’s fastest-growing companies and industries.”

Alumni also can help launch the next generation of Hunter graduates through the CUNY Inclusive Economy Program — an exciting initiative that helps undergraduates build real-world skills, gain exclusive access to internships, and confidently launch careers.
