The staff and faculty at the Hunter College School of Social Work are packing up their Upper East Side offices and classrooms to prepare for the school's move to a $135 million state-of-the art facility in East Harlem. Funding for the new building was made possible by a $40 million contribution from the New York Community Trust, the largest single gift ever made to CUNY. Another $80 million for construction of the eco-friendly facility with an art gallery, community spaces and an inner courtyard came from the state legislature.
UPDATE: Bridge between East and West Buildings open. Due to a water pipe burst, the third-floor bridge between West, and North Buildings is temporarily out of service. Emergency service personnel are on site. Please use alternate routes between these buildings. The campus remains open and classes continue to be held as scheduled. Please monitor Hunter email and the Hunter website for updates. Read more.
