A faculty member at the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing has been named as a Health and Aging Policy Fellow for 2025 – 2026.
Professor Sherry A. Greenberg, the inaugural Evelyn Lauder Chair in Adult Gerontology, will begin the fellowship in October, when she will be paired with a mentor to work on a health and aging policy-related project.
“I’m thrilled to have been selected for this impactful program and to help shape policy for older adults,” Greenberg said.
The fellowship underscores Hunter’s commitment to serving as an anchor institution, providing high-impact training for the state’s best nurses. Hunter was ranked third out of 210 nursing schools in New York and in the top 10% nationally by nonprofit news site RN Careers. Our master’s programs also were ranked among the best in the state by RegisteredNursing.org, a nursing-advocacy organization.
“This well-deserved honor is recognition of Dr. Greenberg’s stature as a national expert in gerontology,” Joan Hansen Grabe Dean Ann Marie Mauro said. “This prestigious fellowship will increase Dr. Greenberg’s impact in furthering our school vision to shape nurse leaders advancing equity for a thriving, healthier world, particularly for older adults.”
The Health and Aging Policy Fellows Program seeks to create a diverse cadre of leaders to serve as change agents in health and aging policy for older adults. The year-long fellowship focuses on current issues, communication-skills development, and professional networking, providing fellows with the experience and skills to affect policy.
Greenberg earned her academic nursing degrees, baccalaureate, master’s, and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. She has worked as a certified gerontological nurse practitioner in acute, long-term care, and outpatient primary care practices and has taught at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels.
Greenberg is a past president of the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association, a member of the Gerontology & Geriatrics Education editorial board and a peer reviewer for multiple journals.
