The most recent graduates of Hunter College’s highly regarded Physical Therapy Department aced their licensing exam.
The 23 graduates scored an average of 718 points out of 800 on the July exam, according to the official report – with two scoring a perfect 800. That’s about 50 points above the national average, which has landed in the 650–670 range for the last decade. A grade of 600 is passing; most licensees score in the mid 600s, which is considered very good.
“We are very proud and excited,” said Physical Therapy Department Chair Cristiana K. Collins. “The results are phenomenal and show that Hunter’s PT graduates are the cream of the crop both in their skills and their education.”
The Department of Physical Therapy is part of the School of Health Professions, also encompassing the departments of Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology and Nutrition and Public Health. The school’s well-regarded master’s and doctoral programs supply personnel for hospitals, clinics, schools, private practices, and nonprofits in New York City and beyond.
Located at Hunter’s Brookdale Campus on East 25th Street, the school will move to CUNY’s highly anticipated Science Park and Research Complex, which will be constructed on the Brookdale campus soon.
