Professor Mneimneh in the Department of Computer Science has been named as a recipient of an AMS-Simons Research Enhancement Grant for Primarily Undergraduate Institution (PUI) Faculty.
The award will support research-related activities for three years. In addition, annual discretionary funds for the department and administrative funds for the institution will be available for administering the grant. For more information on the AMS-Simons PUI grant, see https://www.ams.org/grants-awards/ams-simons-pui-research.
Professor Mneimneh has been a long time supporter for undergraduate research at Hunter College and a main contributor to the Hunter College-MIT outreach. He also ran two REUs in 2024 (through a collaboration with Baruch College) and 2025 (funded by MAA-NSF). His proposal to AMS emphasized the role of undergraduate students, making this award a continuation of his effort in funding the participation of undergraduate students in faculty research.
