Donald S. Zagoria, a leading scholar and foreign policy expert who taught at Hunter for four decades, made an enduring impact on his students—many of whom went on to distinguished careers in diplomacy and public service.
It is thanks to Professor Zagoria’s support and guidance to an eager immigrant kid at Hunter College that I – like so many others – are in positions of leadership and influence today...Learning of Professor Zagoria’s passing, I was immediately brought back to his classroom, in a vivid memory of him sharing his real-life experiences, as he delved into game theory and complex geopolitics of Asia.Outside of the classroom, Professor Zagoria sought to provide opportunities to those he mentored — joining the NCAFP as interns or getting his recommendation for membership at one or another think tank or university. Professor Zagoria stood by us at every step of our careers, ready to use his network and knowledge to help the next generation. Professor Zagoria's legacy lives on in every one of us whose lives he changed. Thank You.
