The CUNY Board of Trustees approved the purchase of 3.5 floors in the 40 Rector Street | 60 West Street building, where Metropolitan College is currently located. The School of Nursing will have its own dedicated entrance and address on 60 West Street. From day one, nursing faculty, staff, and students will have beautiful new state of the art offices, nursing and simulation labs, conference rooms, classrooms, a library, and student spaces.
The building is located downtown in the Financial District, near a subway station hub for easy access to the Hunter 68th street main campus. The Evelyn Lauder Community Care Nurse Practitioner Program will have dedicated offices, state-of-the-art simulation and observation rooms, a locker room with changing areas, a conference room, and a reception area.
The move to 60 West Street is a stepping stone to the next move: Science Park and Research Campus (SPARC) Kips Bay, a first-of-its-kind job and education center in the heart of New York City. SPARC Kips Bay will transform Hunter College’s antiquated Brookdale Campus into nearly two million square feet of modern academic, healthcare, and life sciences space. The project will support the continued growth of the life sciences and healthcare industries in New York City through the construction of new facilities and the cultivation of the city’s talent pipeline in these industries.
