Visual Arts Facilities
The Bertha and Karl Leubsdorf Gallery focuses on presenting historical and scholarly exhibitions and programming that provide new scholarship on important and often under-represented artists and art movements. Located on Hunter’s main campus, the gallery also hosts the BFA degree exhibition each Spring semester.

In the basement of the Thomas Hunter Hall is the clay workshop, which includes a Glaze Room, Kiln Room, Clay-mixing Room, Tool Room, Casting Room and Wheel Room.

The Art Department on the 11th floor houses fully equipped workshops for audio & video production, photography, printmaking, metal, wood and plaster, as well as a computer lab and painting and drawing studios

The 205 Hudson Gallery is dedicated to presenting exhibitions and programming that examine the impact of and critical issues around contemporary art. Located in Tribeca on Hunter’s MFA Studio Art Campus, the gallery also hosts the MFA thesis exhibitions each semester.

CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS (reopening 2026)
The Hunter MFA wood shop is located on the 2nd floor of the 205 Hudson building. The shop contains all major stationary equipment and hand tools. The Vibraclean ventilation system is powerful and connects to all major tools, providing good air quality and a safe work environment. Shop manager, Witts, offers mandatory shop training for all students at the beginning of each semester. He is also available two days a week to answer questions and maintain the equipment. Several work study students are available during the rest of the week to lend assistance.
