Museum of the City of New York

The Museum of the City of New York was started in 1923 during a time when record immigration and housing construction were transforming the city. In its mission to be “The People’s Museum,” it continues to ask what it means to be a New Yorker through the exhibition of eccentric objects, ranging from photographs and paintings to costumes, furniture, toys, and manuscripts. In addition to exhibitions the museum also offers classes, workshops, live performances, and talks.
