Profile
Dr. Christina Costa is a biological anthropologist specializing in molecular biology and genetics. She is a doctoral lecturer in the Anthropology Department and the Human Biology Program.
She completed a PhD in Biological Anthropology at New York University and the New York Consortium in Evolutionary Primatology. Her research explores genetic effects on gene regulation, epigenetics, and immune response in a non-human primate population. Her interests lie in the “how”-- the mechanisms generating phenotypic variation, links between genotype and phenotype, environmental effects, and their implications for evolution.
She loves teaching about evolutionary theory and advances in genomics, especially as they inform understandings of human origins and health.
