oin us for our 2017 Pre-Health weekend panel discussion and networking event with Dean David Taylor of Georgetown University School of Medicine and Dr. Asante Dickson Chairman of the Radiology Department at Washington Adventist Hospital. They will offer strategies for getting into medical school and networking with professionals. Dean David Taylor joined the Georgetown University School of Medicine family in 1990 as the Associate Dean for Student Learning, responsible for initiatives that promote the retention and advancement of medical students. Dean Taylor is the recipient of numerous awards including: Mayoral Proclamation of Excellence (2017) for medical education programs in service to the residents of the District of Columbia, Georgetown University President's Excellence Award (2015) for performance that has clearly demonstrated a commitment to excellence and Diamond Award (2014, 2015) for excellence in medical student advising and support. Dr. Asante Dickson is the current chairman of the Radiology Department at Washington Adventist Hospital. He is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology and possesses a Certificate of Added Qualification from the American Board of Radiology in Neuroradiology. Dr. Dickson began his path to medicine while attending Cornell University as an undergraduate, graduated from Georgetown University School of medicine and received a competitive neuroradiology fellowship from Stanford University.

Dr. Lombardo is a Hunter College alum who attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine and is currently completing her residency in Internal Medicine at New York Presbyterian/Weill-Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Lombardo has received numerous honors and awards including: Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, the Distinction in Clinical Research Investigation Award, and the Medical Society of the State of New York Community Service Award. NYU Project Healthcare, PAVERS & Research Associate (RA) Internship Information Session Programs

roject Healthcare (PHC) is an innovative and immersive volunteer program for enthusiastic and inspired college and post-baccalaureate students. Created by the Bellevue Hospital Center Emergency Department, PHC allows students the opportunity to experience and observe many different aspects of healthcare. The program is comprised of several weekly rotations which are based in the Emergency Department. It offers the committed student a unique healthcare experience, which is intended to furnish a wealth of knowledge about the numerous options for a career in healthcare. PAVERS is a patient advocacy volunteer program in which participants gain patient interaction experience and learn about medicine through emergency department observation, possible assistance with research, and a series of lectures. The Research Associate (RA) Internship is an innovative volunteer program for enthusiastic and inspired college and post-baccalaureate students. Created by the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine, the internship grants students an opportunity to experience and observe multiple aspects of clinical research. The program consists of clinical research shifts based in the Emergency Department. The program offers the committed student a unique experience to furnish a wealth of knowledge about the numerous options for a career in healthcare. This school-year long or summer intensive unpaid research internship will expose participants to a diverse spectrum of clinical research investigations occurring in the Emergency Departments of Bellevue Hospital Center, NYU Langone Medical Center, and NYU Lutheran.

FlexMed Early Assurance Program Application Preparation Workshop

This workshop will review the requirements for application to the FlexMed Early Assurance Program of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS). This workshop will specifically focus on how to write the FlexMed essays. A step-by-step analysis of what to discuss in each essay response and how to organize your essay responses will be reviewed. The workshop will also prepare you for the interview. The types of questions you should be prepared to answer and how to be a strong applicant will be covered. Hunter College sophomores who are currently applying or are planning to apply to the Flex-Med Program at ISMMS are strongly encouraged to attend. You will also have the opportunity to speak with successful FlexMed applicants Christina Marshall and Jennifer Shmukler. MD/PhD Talk with Weill Cornell Medical Student Michelina Stoddard

Join us for an engaging discussion with Michelina Stoddard. Miki is a 5th year MD/PhD student (Entering class of 2012) in the Tri-Institutional MD/PhD Program at Weill Cornell Medical College. She graduated from the University of Washington in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in neurobiology after transferring from Seattle Central Community College. Miki is the first person in her family to attend college, and having grown up in a socioeconomically disadvantaged environment, understands firsthand the challenges associated with becoming a first-generation medical student. Her professional interests include forensic pathology, inflammation and innate immunity, advocacy for students belonging to groups that are under-represented in medicine, and mentoring students.
