Doctor Speaker Series: Dr. Renee Williams

Dr. Renee Williams is an Assistant Professor and a Gastroenterologist at New York University School of Medicine. She completed her undergraduate training at NYU and is an Academic Achievement Program (AAP) alumnus, and serves as the current Chair of the AAP Alumni Board. Her interests include medical education with a concentration in simulation education such as the observed structural clinical encounters (OSCE's).. She is actively involved in medical education design and implementing simulated experiences for undergraduate and graduate medical trainees. Within gastroenterology her interests are concentrated on health disparities in colon cancer screening, luminal gastroenterology and quality improvement. Dr. Williams is the Chair of the Minority Affairs and Cultural Diversity committee for the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and is a member of the Medicare Evidence Development and Advisory Committee (MEDCAC) within the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). She is a strong believer in diversity and has implemented multiple workshops aimed at increasing awareness to highlight gastroenterology for underrepresented students in medicine. Dr. Williams is actively involved in clinical and educational research and her work has been published in peer reviewed medical journals. In 2016, she was the proud recipient of the NYU J Christopher Burch award for Humanism in Medicine.
