Assembly Hall

Capacity: 2,000

Located on the first floor of the North Building, the Assembly Hall is one of Hunter College’s largest event spaces. With seating for approximately 2,000 guests, it is well-suited for graduation ceremonies, keynote lectures, symposiums, and other large-scale gatherings.

The auditorium features basic lighting and standard sound capabilities. While not a fully equipped performance venue, it can accommodate a range of presentation needs with advance planning. The hall’s spacious layout and festive atmosphere make it a popular choice for campus-wide celebrations and formal events.

Venue Features:
  • Seating Capacity: ~2,000 guests
  • Stage Dimensions: 64 feet wide x 17 feet deep (plus 10 feet from curtain line to edge of apron)
  • Dressing Rooms: Two available, accommodating up to 20 people each (included with rental)
  • Audio-Visual: Basic lighting and standard sound; additional AV may require external support

Lecture Halls

Hunter College’s 68th Street campus offers a variety of lecture halls designed to support academic presentations, panel discussions, and public lectures. These flexible spaces accommodate groups of all sizes and are equipped to meet standard audio-visual needs, providing a professional and focused environment for learning and engagement.

Each lecture hall includes:

  • Amplified lectern and overhead projector
  • 16mm reel-to-reel film projector
  • 35mm carousel slide projector
  • Drop-down projection screen or white wall
  • VHS/VCR and video monitor (available upon request)

Whether you're hosting a guest speaker, screening archival footage, or delivering a multimedia lecture, the lecture halls combine traditional presentation tools with the space and functionality needed for effective communication.

Classrooms

The classrooms at Hunter College’s 68th Street campus are thoughtfully designed to support academic instruction and small-group events in a functional, engaging setting. Many feature scenic views of New York City and are equipped with updated digital media technology to enhance presentations and collaborative learning.

Each room is furnished with tablet arm desks, providing individual workspace while maintaining flexibility for a variety of layouts. With both small and large classrooms available, these spaces can be adapted for lectures, workshops, training sessions, or meetings—making them a versatile choice for educational and professional gatherings.

Faculty/Staff Dining Room

Capacity: 225

The Faculty/Staff Dining Room is a quiet, private event space located on the 8th floor of the 68th Street campus. This adaptable, L-shaped room offers multiple vantage points of the New York City skyline, with natural light and city views visible from different angles.

With a capacity of over 200 guests, the space can be arranged to accommodate a variety of setups for receptions, dinners, award ceremonies, and meetings. While the room does not have built-in audio-visual equipment, technology can be added to meet the needs of your event.

Modest in design but highly functional, the Faculty/Staff Dining Room offers a distraction-free environment with a flexible layout and scenic city backdrop—an ideal setting for professional and celebratory gatherings alike.

Large Cafe and Glass Cafe

Large Cafe Capacity: 300, Glass Cafe with Outdoor Terrace Capacity: 150

The Hunter College 68th Street 3rd floor cafeteria features two separate rooms - a small, intimate cafeteria, and a large cafeteria with much more open space.

The large side of the 3rd floor cafeteria can seat two hundred and fifty people and offers plenty of natural light from the large windows encompassing the room.

The small side of the 3rd floor cafeteria seats one hundred people and has its own patio, where guests can enjoy the fresh air with their meal.

West Lobby

Capacity: 250

The West Lobby at Hunter College's 68th Street Campus can accommodate up to two hundred fifty people for any lecture, literary event, or other hosting needs. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer plenty of natural light, giving the space a warm, open feeling. The lobby is in the atrium of the main entrance on 68th Street.

Terraces

Capacity: 100

The Hunter College 68th Street campus features two outdoor terraces with beautiful cascading gardens. The larger terrace in the west building has a spacious pavilion decorated with green foliage and a bird's eye view of Lexington Avenue, making it an ideal spot for an elegant cocktail party or informal outdoor reception. The smaller terrace in the east building is filled with vibrant flowers, flourishing trees, and a classic ivy plant intertwined with a trellis to create a natural canopy. With a plethora of tables, chairs, and plenty of space, the east terrace is a great space for a casual party or gathering under the New York City skyline.

The Hunter College 68th Street campus athletic facilities include a gymnasium, stadium-style bleachers, a competition-size swimming pool, a dance studio, a wrestling room, and racquetball courts. See below:

The seventh floor bridge provides a truly unique environment suspended across Lexington Ave. With floor to ceiling windows, the bridge gives guests a unique view of both uptown and downtown, creating a picturesque environment for any occasion.
