Departmental Honors

Students are eligible who have all of the following:

  • accumulated 21 credits in Sociology courses at Hunter 
  • an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and a GPA of at least 3.5 in all courses taken in Sociology
  • taken a Sociology Honors course (SOC 471, 472 Honors Independent Study or one of our graduate level courses (listed as 425 courses in the schedule of classes)

You must apply for graduation with Departmental Honors in the semester in which you are graduating. Application forms are available in the Sociology Advising Office (W1619), but can also be downloaded (in pdf format, Acrobat reader needed). You must attach a copy of your latest transcript to the application form.

If you want to have your name listed in the Commencement Bulletin, you should return the form with a copy of your most recent transcript to the Sociology advisor early in the semester in which you are graduating.
