Congratulations on your acceptance to Hunter. We know this can be a pretty stressful time in your life, so we’ve gathered some of the most Frequently Asked Questions that we receive from newly admitted students. If we’ve missed something, don’t hesitate to contact us.
FAQs for International Students
The F-1 Visa is a non-immigrant student visa issued for individuals who wish to study in the United States. Before applying for an F-1 Visa, you must first obtain a SEVIS I-20 from the International Students Office. Review the required documents to apply for a SEVIS I-20 and follow the outlined steps to complete your F-1 Visa application process.

Due to a recent update of the new FAFSA for 2024-2025 academic year, financial aid packages are not available yet. Please check back for updates. In the meantime, please utilize the CUNY NetPrice Calculator.
Go to CUNYfirst and navigate to your Student Center page. On the left hand side you will see a Finances tab. Under this is a View Financial Aid option. Click on Hunter, and it should give you all of the details about your financial aid package.
After being admitted to Hunter, you might be asked to submit additional documentation to complete your enrollment steps. These document may include, but not limited to: NY State Residency Form, Proof of Status, etc.
About Uploading Admissions DocumentsStudents can upload documents through CUNYfirst using the CUNYfirst Document Uploader.
How to use the Document UploaderStudents who wish to defer their start to another semester must accept their offer of admission in CUNYfirst and deposit to reserve their seat. The confirmation of deposit email will have a link to defer your admission. Note, scholarship offers cannot be deferred.
