Change to Summer is completely normal!

Students who wish to kick-off their Hunter studies earlier have the option to do so in the Summer, which is why the change happened. You do not need to start classes in the summer if you were admitted for fall semester, it is optional. You were admitted for the semester you applied for and can start then.

Once you meet with an academic advisor you will be instructed on how to declare your major with the academic department.

On your application, you indicated an interest in our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Unfortunately, you were not selected for the pre-nursing track as the program is extremely competitive and only a limited number of seats are available. You now have the option to start at Hunter with another major. You can explore interests in the humanities, sciences, education, public health, or social work as you discover your passions in college.

If you took College Now at CUNY, we’ll see that and automatically add your credit to your evaluation. If you took College classes while in high school outside of CUNY, please be sure to send us your transcript electronically, at admissions@hunter.cuny.edu.

Please visit the Health Services website for instructions on how to submit your immunization records.

Freshmen will register for classes at Freshman Orientation. Your attendance at orientation is required for registration.

Your academic advising information will be available 5-6 business days after your transfer credit evaluation is completed. All appointments will be made through the Navigate app, so please review New Student Guide for Transfers.

Transfer credits are evaluated for new transfer students about 5-7 days after they have committed to Hunter and submitted their deposit (if required). For more information regarding the transfer credit evaluation timeline and overall process be sure to check out the Transfer Credit Evaluation Guide. 

“CIP” on your record simply means that your final grades were not on your transcript when it was evaluated. We need an updated official transcript from your previous institution. Please ask your previous school to send an official transcript directly to admissions@hunter.cuny.edu.

Please note that it could take until September or October for “CIP” grades to be updated in CUNYfirst, but don't worry, “CIP” will not affect your registration for classes.

Hunter College may award credit for prior learning if there's documented evidence of college-level knowledge. Credit is not given for experience alone. To apply, submit the CPL Assessment Form and Portfolio. Submissions are reviewed by department chairs and program directors. 

Due to a recent update of the new FAFSA for 2024-2025 academic year, financial aid packages are not available yet. Please check back for updates. In the meantime, please utilize the CUNY NetPrice Calculator.

Go to CUNYfirst and navigate to your Student Center page. On the left hand side you will see a Finances tab. Under this is a View Financial Aid option. Click on Hunter, and it should give you all of the details about your financial aid package.

After being admitted to Hunter, you might be asked to submit additional documentation to complete your enrollment steps. These document may include, but not limited to: NY State Residency Form, Proof of Status, etc.

Students can upload documents through CUNYfirst.

The F-1 Visa is a non-immigrant student visa issued for individuals who wish to study in the United States. Before applying for an F-1 Visa, you must first obtain a SEVIS I-20 from the International Students Office. Review the required documents to apply for a SEVIS I-20 and follow the outlined steps to complete your F-1 Visa application process.

Students who wish to defer their start to another semester must accept their offer of admission in CUNYfirst and deposit to reserve their seat. The confirmation of deposit email will have a link to defer your admission. Note, scholarship offers cannot be deferred.
