Salud Scholars
Salud derives from the Latin word for "health," a foundational term that has long represented ideas of safety, wellness, and the common good — values that guide the program’s commitment to advancing equity and community across the health sciences. Housed in Hunter College’s Nutrition and Public Health Department within the School of Health Professions, this immersive and dynamic program cultivates the next generation of public health leaders and evidence-based practitioners. Rooted in Hunter’s commitment to excellence and equity, the Salud program fosters a diverse community dedicated to advancing health and social justice.
Engage in a cohesive learning community supported by faculty mentors, peer advisors, and alumni connections. Participate in regular cohort gatherings, workshops, and speaker series focused on pressing public health and wellness topics — including food access, nutrition, chronic disease prevention, emergency preparedness, and the science that informs public health policy and practice.
