My Story
My interest in political science began early, thanks largely to my fourth-grade teacher, Ms. Foster. She pushed me to challenge myself academically and encouraged me to explore subjects that felt unfamiliar at the time. Her belief in my abilities stayed with me long after I left her classroom, inspiring me to work hard and take risks. She has continued to support me through writing mentorship, college applications, and opportunities to speak with her students.
Political science resonates with me because it helps make sense of the complex and often overwhelming world we live in. So many systems that affect our daily lives feel inaccessible or confusing, and I believe that understanding them shouldn’t be limited to a select few. Much of politics can seem dark, but a lot of good can come from it as well, which should be considered in tandem. I’m passionate about making political knowledge more approachable and empowering people to use their voices confidently.
Balancing coursework, internships, and cohort commitments has been demanding, but it’s taught me discipline and intentional time management. I am grateful for the variety of experiences and classes these programs have offered me and making the most of them is very important to me. While finding balance isn’t always easy, the experience has strengthened my sense of purpose and reinforced my belief that informed participation is essential for meaningful change.
