Congratulations, Scholarship & Fellowship Winners
Hunter students won 76 prestigious scholarships from 2024-5!

Over the past 9 years, Hunter’s students have won competitive international awards including Rhodes, Marshall, Luce, Fulbright, and Schwarzman Scholarships; national awards like Truman, Goldwater, Hertog, and NSF-Graduate Research Fellowships; and local awards including New York City Urban, Carol Robles-Román, and Jeannette K. Watson Fellowships.

These opportunities have allowed Hunter students to study at the world’s oldest universities, travel across four continents, and work on society’s most pressing issues.

Marshall Scholar

Emily Springer ’23 has been named a 2025 Marshall Scholar. She is only the third student in the school’s history to receive a Marshall, one of the world’s most selective and prestigious awards for international post-graduate study.

Thomas Hunter Scholar

Ariana Ahmed ’23, a Thomas Hunter Scholar, Mellon Public Humanities Fellow, JFEW Scholar, and Eleanor Roosevelt Scholar, will spend the next year in Beijing studying at Tsinghua University as a Schwarzman Scholar.

Luce Scholarship

Christina Valeros ’21 won a Luce Scholarship to live and work in Asia this year after working with the OPS&F to earn a Fulbright Award (Spain) three years prior.

National Science Foundation Grad Research Fellow

Nibras Ahmed ’21 will begin his doctorate as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center studying cancer biology this fall.

Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship

Isidro Borges ’27, an Macaulay Honors College sophomore studying art history, won a Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship which provides three summers of paid internships before a fully-funded final summer abroad.
