Program Description

These days, the relationship between the United States and Mexico is constantly in the news. But the connections between the two countries goes back centuries. In this class, we’ll explore transnational moments of conversation, collaboration, and conflict from each country’s perspective up to the present day. We’ll look at fiction, journalism, memoirs, legal documents, film, and images in which Mexicans reflect on US politics and culture and Americans create narratives about Mexico.

Prerequisites

All applicants must fulfill the general eligibility requirements. In addition, students must have completed ENGL 220.

As this is a Hunter College course, students will receive a grade that will appear on their transcript and count toward their GPA.
