DegreeWorks

What is DegreeWorks?

DegreeWorks is a web-based program that enables you to easily track your academic progress. You will be able to see how specific Hunter College requirements have been met and what courses you can take to fulfill the requirements which are remaining. With the click of a tab (the ‘What If’ feature), you will also be able to see how your academic requirements might change if you were to change your major.

Benefits of DegreeWorks

  • Determine what requirements you need to fulfill to complete your degree.
  • View individual course grades, cumulative grade-point average (GPA), and major average.
  • Determine which courses you have taken or transferred, and which ones count as electives.
  • View transfer credits, waivers, and exemptions applied toward degree.
  • See how your coursework can be applied toward another major, minor, certificate or major concentration using the ‘What If’ option.
  • Confirm your academic standing.
  • Estimate how many semesters it will take you to graduate.
  • Learn the requisites for courses by clicking on the course number

The DegreeWorks link can be found in your CUNYfirst Student Center or you may access it through the link below.

Access DegreeWorks

Faculty/Staff DegreeWorks Access Request Process

You will need to utilize your CUNYfirst credentials in order to access DegreeWorks.

Although students receive DegreeWorks access automatically, faculty and staff must formally request access through the CUNY DegreeWorks User Access Request Form.

User Levels for Advisors

  • If advisors are not seeking access to FACTS (financial aid system) then they should select this user level: CU_DGW_Advisorx
  • If advisors are involved in reviewing financial aid for students, then we recommend the following user level (this will require Financial Aid’s approval): CU_DGW_Advisorxfadv

Note: for the Confidentiality Statement, we recommend signing it with the CUNYfirst Confidentiality Agreement Code. For more information, click here.

Submission Process: Once the form has been completed and signed by the employee and their supervisor, it must be submitted via the Service Now ticketing system. Please note that processing can take several weeks.

Submission Instructions:

  1. Go to cunyithelp.cuny.edu
  2. Click Log in (upper right-hand corner) - use your CUNYfirst credentials to log in
  3. Click Catalog
  4. Click CUNY Enterprise Catalog
  5. Click App Services
  6. Click DegreeWorks
  7. Click DegreeWorks - Access Request
  8. Enter all of the information requested
  9. You can add an alternative email address or Hunter email address under Additional Email for Notification (since the system might not have the Hunter email address listed)
  10. Attach the form to the ticket:
    • Click on the clip icon Add attachments, then click Choose file and locate the form to be added
  11. Click Submit
  12. Keep the Request Number provided for future reference

Transfer What-If

Transfer What-If is a DegreeWorks feature that lets you and your advisors see how credits, taken at Hunter College, would transfer to another CUNY institution and apply towards a desired area of study. Transfer What-If can make planning for a transfer between CUNY colleges easier. It also helps advisors to keep students who plan to transfer to a particular program at another CUNY college on track, thus expediting degree completion.

Note that CUNY General Education (Pathways) and Major Gateway courses automatically fulfill requirements at all CUNY colleges.
