Nursing Entrance Exam (NEX)

The Nursing Entrance Exam (NEX) is required for applicants to the Generic and Accelerated Second-Degree Pathways at the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing. The exam evaluates Verbal, Math, and Science skills, with each section 60 minutes long. You may retake the exam once every six months (either remote or in person, but not both). Scores are valid for two years for admissions and you should test by February 28 to be considered for Fall admissions.

How to Register

  1. Visit the National League for Nursing (NLN) website at nlntest.org for more information about scheduling all exams.
  2. If you previously tested or had an NLN account, be sure to use the same email address used in Question mark and select Hunter College as the site to link your scores.

Registering

The cost of the virtual NEX is $73.50. You will purchase and schedule your exam through your NLN account. After you have purchased the exam, be sure to schedule a date and time to test with Proctor360.

Day of Exam

Use the link provided in your email from Proctor360 to connect to your proctored session.

Registering

The cost of the in-person exam is $52.50 + a nonrefundable $36.00 administration fee. The fee must be paid by the day of the test, before exam start time and only accepted by cash, money order and/or cashier's check in person at the Office of the Bursar (Room 238, North Building). Money orders are to be payable to Hunter College Testing Center. You will purchase and schedule your exam through your NLN account.

Day of Exam

  • Report to Room 150 Hunter North Building.
  • Bring proof of administration fee payment.
  • Bring valid government-issued photo ID and/or physical school ID.
  • Use the built-in calculator; scrap paper will be provided.
