The Journey of an International Doctor: Meet Dr. Jose Garcia Ulerio
Join us for an interactive discussion with international volunteer and medical doctor, Dr. José García Ulerio. Dr. José has served impoverished communities in the Dominican Republic, Kenya, and South Sudan. He will be sharing his inspiring story and answering any questions you may have for him.

-Bio: José Garcia Ulerio is originally from the Dominican Republic, where he studied medicine at the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo. For two years, he worked as a general physician for Caritas Internationalis. His role involved assisting patients in outpatient care facilities located in vulnerable parts of the city. He also coordinated prevention programs, including vaccination days, home-based care, and health education and promotion.
In December 2017, José moved from the Dominican Republic to New York City to join CMMB as an intern with the programs team. He then moved on to become a CMMB international, medical volunteer in Mutomo, Kenya. In Kenya, Jose worked as a doctor at Mutomo Mission Hospital. Jose also worked at the Nuba Mountains of South Sudan to work with Dr. Tom Catena at the Mother of Mercy Hospital.
