As part of our outreach efforts, we organize the graduate student-led TIMS Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (TIMS SPUR). Manisha, Yoselin, Ryann, (all cc’d here), and I (Jesús) are the current TIMS SPUR coordinators for this academic year.

TIMS SPUR is a paid 10-week summer research program for NYC undergraduate students from diverse and underserved backgrounds. Our program is designed as a stepping-stone for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the biomedical field but have limited research experience. In addition, there is no minimum GPA requirement. TIMS SPUR students join laboratories within the Tri-I, including WCM, MSKCC, and RU. Throughout the summer, students also engage in weekly research seminars, journal club sessions, scientific writing workshops, professional development events, and an introductory bioinformatics course. At the culmination of the program, students share their work through oral and poster presentations.
