Professor Yukiko Koga Awarded the American Anthropological Association’s 2017 Francis L. K. Hsu and Anthony Leeds Book Prizes

Prof. Yukiko Koga's book Inheritance of Loss: Political Economy of Redemption After Empire (University of Chicago Press, 2016) has received the American Anthropological Association’s 2017 Francis L. K. Hsu and Anthony Leeds Book prizes.

The Francis L. K. Hsu Book Prize is awarded by the American Anthropological Association’s Society for East Asian Anthropology (SEAA) for the best English-language book published in the previous calendar year judged to have made the most significant contribution to the field. The prize is named for the late Francis L.K. Hsu (1909-2000), renowned cross-cultural anthropologist and former President (1977-78) of the American Anthropological Association.

The Anthony Leeds Prize is awarded each year by the Society for Urban, National, Transnational/Global Anthropology (SUNTA) for the outstanding book in urban, national and/or transnational anthropology published in the previous year. The prize is named in honor of the late Anthony Leeds, a distinguished pioneer in urban anthropology.
