Hunter's Anita Nirenberg Receives 2014 Oncology Nursing Society Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. Anita Nirenberg, the William Randolph Hearst Professor of Clinical Nursing at the Hunter College School of Nursing, is the recipient of the 2014 Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes her outstanding contributions as an oncology nurse researcher, mentor, and educator as well as her service to ONS and the community at large. She was honored for the award recently at ONS's 39th Annual Congress in Anaheim, CA.

"This award is dedicated to the children and families who taught me everything I know in taking care of people with cancer," said Nirenberg. "It is the highest professional recognition of my work and passion."

Nirenberg is an active member of ONS, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and the American Academy of Nursing. She is also a member of the board of directors of the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation.
