Hunter’s Jill Bargonetti and Jayne Raper Present at TEDxCUNY 2015

On November 20, Jill Bargonetti and Jayne Raper, distinguished members of Hunter’s biological sciences faculty, presented at TEDxCUNY 2015. Titled Borders and Belongings, the conference at the TriBeCa Performing Arts Center explored the physical and socially constructed borders separating peoples, places, and communities.

Professor Raper  discussed her vanguard role in genetic research aiming to create cows resistant to all forms of the lethal parasite African trypanosome.

Bargonetti discussed her course "Choreographing Genomics," in which students model biological processes through the performance of dance and poetry. The innovative course, part of Hunter’s Arts Across the Curriculum initiative, was launched in 2011 with the support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Videos of the presentations will be posted in the coming days.
