Welcome to the Faculty Delegate Assembly!
The FDA of Hunter College is a faculty-only governance body. Its chief mission is to be a voice for faculty and to keep faculty informed about campus-wide issues. We are always interested in your suggestions toward this effort. Please send any ideas, concerns, or resources to fda@hunter.cuny.edu
Regular responsibilities include:
- FDA meetings and plenaries
- Responding to concerns raised by faculty
- Bridging faculty with administration, PSC-CUNY, University Faculty Senate (USF) and Senate
- Discussion forum for Senate issues
- Weekly coffee, tea, and cookie service in 8th floor faculty lounge
- Booking space in 8th floor lounge & Solarium East Building
- Hosting socials and gathering faculty together
- Publication of the Faculty Voice Newsletter
FDA Plenaries & Socials: Regular plenaries and socials are scheduled each semester on Wednesday afternoons (2:30-3:45pm) in the 8th Floor Faculty Lounge. Recent issues include, but are not limited to:
Academic freedom at the college
Infrastructure development and impact on faculty & students
Reopening of faculty dining commons
Changes to bylaws
Initiating resolutions on behalf of faculty
Annual Dues: Your continued help in donations and annual dues is what makes this work possible. Please see the Annual Dues Letter here and return it together with your check (made out to the Executive Committee of the FDA). You may also drop off the envelope at Hunter’s Post office on the 3rd floor in Hunter North (next to the Duplicating Center). We recommend the following schedule but are appreciative of all contributions:
Booking Space: The FDA is responsible for reservations and maintenance of two Hunter College spaces: the 8th Floor Faculty Lounge (West Building) and the Solarium (1413 East Building). These spaces may be available to faculty and staff for small events only. Please note that a faculty or staff member MUST be present for the entire time of a booked event. Please send an email to the FDA, if you like to reserve the lounge. To ensure broad availability and enjoyment, the lounge cannot be used as regular classroom space or on a semester or long-term basis.
