Further Education

The majority of MLS alumni pursue at least part-time graduate studies or specialized training within a few years of graduation. The small size of the program allows faculty to become well acquainted with students and help to guide and provide the support necessary to sharpen and fulfill ambitious goals.

A variety of awards and scholarships are available to assist qualified students with tuition and training, and MLS students receive guidance and support in obtaining these funds.

Some typical pathways following the MLS degree:

  • graduate school (masters and doctoral) in biomedical science, management, healthcare administration, etc.
  • specialized lab education, e.g. cytotechnology, cytogenetics, forensics
  • medical/dental school
  • other clinical professions, e.g. PT, PA, RN, etc.
  • teaching credentials
