Professor Nancy Foner's Work on Immigration Noted in New York Times Article

Professor Nancy Foner's recent book, Strangers No More, written in collaboration with her Graduate Center colleague, Richard Alba, was discussed in a recent article on immigration by Eduardo Porter in the New York Times. According to Porter, Foner (a Distinguished Professor in Hunter's Sociology Department) and Alba "compare the challenges facing low-status immigrants in North America and Western Europe," adding that, "in the end, they do not make a definitive call on which is better." As to the long-range efficacy of the differing European and US models of integration, Foner commented, "the United States does a better job at accepting immigrants as Americans in the making."
