Professor Pontzer Co-Authors Study on Sleep Patterns in Pre-Industrial Societies
Professor Herman Pontzer, of the Anthropology Department, has co-authored a study on sleep patterns in hunter-gatherer and other pre-industrial societies; the study was featured in a recent issue of Science magazinehttp://news.sciencemag.org/biology/2015/10/chances-are-you-re-getting-enough-sleep . 'It turns out,' said Professor Pontzer, 'contrary to what many in public health currently argue, that pre-industrial societies without access to electric / artificial lighting get the same amount of sleep as folks in the US and other industrialized countries.' The study can be found in Current Biology, here: http://www.cell.com/current-biology/abstract/S0960-9822(15)01157-4 .
