Lisa Steadwell earned her bachelor's degree in human communications from Hunter College. She served as a college assistant in a number of Hunter College departments during her time there, including the Women's Studies Program, Administrative Computing, Communications, and Telecommunications. She was promoted to full-time Operations Manager in 1995 for the Women and Gender Studies Department. She spent 14 years working in the Asian American Studies and Latin American and Caribbean Studies programs in addition to the Women and Gender Studies Department.
