Graduate Social Research Society (GSRS)
Who We Are
The Graduate Social Research Society is an academic club designed to support the academic and professional goals of students enrolled in the Graduate Social Research Program at Hunter College. We promote collegiality among students, faculty, staff, and alumni. We are dedicated to improving the overall success of our members through social events, workshops and field trips. Past and current students are welcomed to join and students are encouraged to share their ideas with the society.

FAQs
How does it work if I want to take classes outside of the GSR program?
You can register for courses in other Graduate Hunter Departments. To do so, you must obtain permission from the Graduate Advisor of the Department you are interested in taking the course from, as well as from the Head of the program, Dr. Lune.
In addition, the CUNY Graduate Center offers courses that may be of interest to your studies. To register for a course here, you must obtain an electronic permit (E-permit).
Are there scholarships available?
The online resource SociologyDegree.com is a great place to access information about scholarships and careers that pertain to sociology. There is a searchable database where you can filter by state, minimum GPA or other factors to find scholarships. The GSR does not have scholarships, but Hunter College has some limited options for partial tuition remission for new students.
Do you offer any financial assistance to members for travel?
Travel reimbursement for academic/professional events and/or conferences is available for eligible students. If you are planning to travel to a conference please reach out to the GSRS to get more details.
Where do you post notices?
Visit our bulletin board located inside the Sociology Department’s lounge (Hunter W 1633) for important information about GSRS events, activities, and meetings.
How can I find out more about jobs & internships?
Our mailing list is the best way to stay informed of unique career and internship opportunities that are available to GSR Students & Alumni.
