About

Hunter College Housing Staff manages the placement of students who choose to lease housing directly through the College. Hunter’s housing locations are operated by Found Study, but students living in these residences through the College are overseen by Hunter College and must comply with all CUNY and Hunter College policies.

For all questions regarding leasing through Hunter, please direct your emails to living@hunter.cuny.edu. If you are a CUNY student, please ensure to use your CUNY email and include your CUNYfirst ID.

FERPA and Privacy

Our preference is to speak directly with the student. As we are obligated to protect the privacy and honor students’ rights, pursuant to The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) our staff cannot give out any student information to any contacting party. Ultimately, our goal is that students construct a healthy flow of communication with their family and friends and we highly recommend communication measures are established before a student resides with us.

It is of vital importance that students have as much support and encouragement from home as possible, while at the same time being allowed to mature through their own experiences. We hope that you build a strong rapport with your student and that you can serve as a sounding board, but let them handle their own problems as much as possible. Keep in mind that your student's success while at Hunter, and in their future, is dependent upon their ability to function independently.
