December 2016 Newsletter

This newsletter contains a brief review of the recent MSCHE Annual Conference, information about the Commission’s new Substantive Change template, and a link to the new “Policies Under Review” portion of the MSCHE website. The Newsletter also features details about the newest Commissioners and members of the Commission staff, Winter and Spring professional development opportunities, and recent Commission actions.

Statement of Accreditaion Status (SAS)

The Statement of Accreditation Status (SAS) for each Middle States Commission on Higher Education member institution has been modified to show the date of the next MSCHE evaluation, as affected by the shift from the ten-year to the eight-year evaluation cycle. The new date is the one indicated in the Commission's September letter to the institution. Now available on the MSCHE website at: http://www.msche.org/?Nav1=NEWS&Nav2=NEWSROOM&Nav3=PROCESSREVIEW are the Power Point slides for and a video of the presentation at the final town hall meeting in Philadelphia on October 18. The MSCHE Annual Conference next week in Philadelphia will include a plenary session on the process changes. This session is scheduled for Thursday afternoon, December 8, 3:30 - 4:30 pm, in Salon G - L of the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown Hotel. We hope you will join us for this important session. The electronic ballet for approval of the proposed changes will be sent to the chief executive officers of MSCHE institutions shortly after the conference.

Dr. Robert Clark's Presentation

A video recording of Dr. Robert Clark's presentation at the October 18 Town Hall of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education is now available on the MSCHE website. The presentation include's Dr. Clark's commentary on the Power Point slides that have been available on the MSCHE website. After the Commission finalizes the proposal for process changes at its November meeting, there will be a presentation at the MSCHE Annual Conference in early December, followed by a vote by member institutions.
