Mission Statement
The mission of the Office of Assessment at Hunter College is to support College-wide efforts to increase the institution's knowledge about its students, including their learning outcomes and other educational experiences, in order to continuously improve teaching, curricula, and support services.
Goals
This mission is guided by the Hunter College Strategic Plan, and supports its Goals and Objectives in the following ways:

I. Enhance Hunter College's Academic Identity as an Emerging University |

Improved evaluation frameworks within grant proposals and programs. Improved pedagogy and curricula, measured by learning outcomes, within all academic departments and programs. |
Partner with the Office of Research Administration to provide workshops and consultations with faculty on evaluating their grant-funded programs. Provide workshops and consultations with faculty on assessing key student learning outcomes, including writing, quantitative reasoning and disciplinary-specific outcomes. Partner with ACERT to promote the sharing of best practices in assessment, pedagogy and technology among faculty across all academic departments and programs. |

Improved program design, measured by student success indicators, across the College. |
Partner with the Office of Institutional Research to provide workshops and consultations with faculty and student services staff on assessing key student success measures, so that they may adjust program design accordingly. |

Increased faculty-driven assessment capacity across all academic departments. Increased student services self-evaluation capacity across the College. Increased awareness of best practices and tools for assessment/ evaluation among both academic and student services units across the College. |
Promote faculty-driven assessment efforts by providing expertise and resources for developing best practices in course-, program-, and institution-level assessment. Partner with the Administrative Assessment Committee to support ongoing evaluation of student services effectiveness. Share stories of innovative assessment on campus through the Office of Assessment newsletter. Provide easy access to highly relevant best practices and tools on the Office of Assessment website. |
