Honors Scholar Programs

The Honors Scholar Programs offer students a variety of advantages and support that can help create an extraordinary learning experience at Hunter College. The programs offer tailored classes, merit scholarships, a faculty mentor, an extensive system of academic advising, priority registration, and freshman year priority access to residence life. Honors Scholars are encouraged to work toward honors in the major or interdisciplinary studies, postgraduate education, and high-impact educational experiences (e.g. study abroad, research, internships).

There are nine programs, each functioning as a meta-major with key first-year required courses for clusters of majors. This aids students in exploring related programs of study and graduating in a timely manner. In addition to a faculty advisor, all scholars are assigned a dedicated full-time professional staff advisor to assist with major selection and course planning.

There are nine scholar cohort programs:

Athena Philosophy and humanities
Community Liberal arts
Jenny Hunter Liberal arts
Muse Visual and performing arts
Nursing Nursing
Roosevelt Civic issues and public policy
Sage Liberal arts
Yalow Scientific research and/or medicine
Computer science
